When BAT bought Winnington AB, the makers of Epok All White Snus, they had a plan in hand.  Epok was the most recognized brand of all white portions.  Even though after the tobacco used was beaten and water-boarded into a tasteless powder to which flavor and nicotine was added back to, it was still technically tobacco.

BAT wanted a tobacco free version since it would save them tobacco tax money and avoid most of the regulations on tobacco.  Making it would be easy; just use the same process Epok was created with but instead of tobacco, use other plant fibers.  After processing, the plant fibers would look and feel exactly like the tobacco fibers used in Epok.

BAT could literally just change the filler and keep everything else the same.... except for one thing.  Norway is the second largest snus market in the world after Sweden.

Norway allows tobacco snus; brown or white, to be sold in stores and Norwegian stores sell a lot of it.

Norway does NOT allow Tobacco Free nicotine pouches to be sold.  Norway likes tobacco tax money.

This forced BAT/Winnington to continue making the white tobacco Epok for Norway  while designing a new tobacco free version for the rest of the world.

BAT began selling the tobacco free LYFT version of flavored nicotine pouches using the same can, can graphics, and colors as Epok. The difference was just the filler.  At the time, BAT really didn't explain this very well to snus users and there was a lot of confusion.  Now they have changed the name again; this time to VELO. I am Very confused!

Today, Epok is a distant memory outside of Norway and VELO blankets the international market.... although to be honest, last month is a distant memory to me, Moe Unz.  Some would consider my excessive whisky drinking as causing my memory issues but that is a story for another time.
