Founded in 1835, many do not know that Fiedler & Lundgren could well have been called Fiedler, Lundgren, & Unz. Jesper Unz was a client, friend, and self-professed snus collaborator of master tailor Samuel Fiedler.
According to Unz family history, back in 1783, Fiedler and Unz made an appointment with Gothenburg city authorities for permission to start making snus. Unfortunately for him, Jesper Unz overslept and Samuel Fiedler was left to meet with the Gothenburg snus officials alone.
Since Unz wasn't there to sign the papers, his name was removed.Today Fiedler & Lundgren is a part of BAT and makes Granit and Mocca brand snuses among others. They are a very large company, very valuable, and very nice....but none of that really matters to me all because Jesper Unz overslept on the wrong day 200+ years ago! I could have been a part of BAT...
