XR Free is a nicotine pouch using tobacco as its flavor. The "Free" in the name refers to "tobacco free", not the price. I guess I can't blame Swedish Match too much; Skruf started adding nicotine pouches to the Skruf tobacco product line a few years ago. At least SM does a better job differentiating XR Free as a tobacco free product than Skruf does with its naming process.
There are a few "tobacco flavored" nicopods on the market today but XR Free had better be the BEST tobacco flavored/tobacco free pouch out there. XR and General snus in particular have a reputation to uphold!

Not quite sure what the flavor is, but I like it.
I recently switched from tobacco to nicotine pouches, and I don't generally like the flavored varieties. Don't do mint or any of that.
I don't want something that overpowers my tea or my beer, or my lunch. Admittedly, the tastes is a bit odd. Makes me think bergamot, kind of herbal. Definitely not an actual tobacco taste. That said, it's pretty mild and works well for everyday.
Not Good
I have to agree with my guy Chad; the flavor is not good. We have something in the states people will use on meat to make it taste like it was on the grill instead of the oven called Liquid Smoke. That's what it reminds me of. Sad to say, I'm not a fan.
A quality product with a horrible taste.
I usually rate snus / nicopods on a 5/5 scale. I rate can design, portion material, aroma, flavor, longevity, and nicotine strength. This one ended up with a decent score for me, because it's a quality product. A solid can, a nice pouch, a long lasting flavor, and a good/steady release of nicotine.
That being said, in terms of aroma and flavor, it was awful. And I'm a General fanboy. It hurts me to say it. But it tastes like leftover, room temperature Jagermeister from the night before. I'm not a fan.
It’s... interesting
I snapped this up eagerly, and was very excited to see what the General interpretation of a nic pouch would be like. After having had a few, I’ll say that it’s interesting.
The filler and pouch are of average quality- nothing to complain about. Not the fluffiest pouch I’ve had, but certainly not the loosest.
To be clear, though the intent may have been to replicate the flavor of tobacco, I did not get a tobacco vibe here. The flavor is overwhelmingly that of dried, powdered cayenne pepper, with hints of salted licorice. Which sounds pretty grim, but actually ends up being a rather simple, pleasant flavor, one of the better non-minty flavors I’ve had in a white pouch.
With that being said, though I like cayenne pepper, this is not an everyday snus for me. It can be pretty nice after a meal, but after it’s finished I have no desire to pop another- the flavor is just a little too heavy-handed. This is not a ‘refreshing’ snus, in other words.
Still well worth a try, especially if you like a more savoury pouch.
